Columbus, Ohio – 43215 – The American Hospital Association today announced Mike Abrams, president and CEO, Ohio Hospital Association, has been elected to the AHA Board of Trustees for a three-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2022. The AHA board is the highest policymaking body of the AHA and has ultimate authority for the governance and management of its directions and finances.

“I truly appreciate this special opportunity to join the AHA board to support its important mission to advance the health of individuals and communities,” said Abrams. “Hospitals face tremendous opportunities as health care services evolve to meet the specialized needs of every patient.”

Abrams, an experienced association executive with more than 30 years of health care policy and government affairs expertise, joined OHA in 2012 as president and CEO. He leads a team of 55 associates, supports a 20-member Board of Trustees, serves on a variety of health care and hospital taskforces and committees to guide the association toward its mission of collaborating with member hospitals and health systems to ensure a healthy Ohio.

He works closely with hospital and health system executives and leaders to assess health care trends and policies impacting the industry. Abrams was selected by his peers to chair the State Hospital Association Executive Forum, an organization of all 50 state hospital association presidents, in 2020. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine appointed Abrams to the Governor’s Executive Workforce Board, which advises the governor, lieutenant governor and the Office of Workforce Transformation about emerging workforce needs, solutions and best practices.

“The AHA is pleased to welcome Mike Abrams as a Board of Trustees member,” said Rick Pollack, president and CEO, AHA. “As the president and CEO of the Ohio Hospital Association, Mike has not only been a champion for Ohio hospitals, but has also been a great partner, terrific colleague and good friend. He enjoys the deep respect and admiration of his colleagues across the country, which is reflected in his service as the immediate past chair of the State Hospital Association Executive Forum. We look forward to Mike’s contributions and leadership as we fulfill our mission to advance the health of individuals and communities across the country.”
